The Protestant Campus Ministry at Syracuse University and SUNY – ESF seeks to make an immediate appointment of an Interim Protestant Chaplain for one academic year. The ideal candidate will have experience preaching and leading worship, working with young adults in higher educational setting, coordinating service opportunities, and serving as an administrator and mentor. The Interim Protestant Chaplain works in an interfaith setting with various chaplaincies and religious life groups represented. The incumbent must be comfortable serving in an environment that represents all facets of human diversity. The person selected must be ordained and in good standing in the American Baptist Churches, the Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, or the United Methodist Church.

Applications and nominations are invited for the position of College Chaplain and Director of Church Relations at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Coeducational since its founding in 1903, Lynchburg College is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a liberal Protestant denomination.
Reporting to the President, the Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual nurture and pastoral care to students and other members of the College community, coordinating campus religious life activities, and serving as program developer and coordinator of church relations. The Chaplain helps members of a diverse faith community to express their distinctive faith traditions in appropriate ways within the College community. The Chaplain serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.
The qualified candidate must be an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Candidates should be knowledgeable about and able to function effectively with the various structures, agencies and personnel of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Successful experience is required in congregational ministry, in campus ministry, or other ministerial leadership roles with young adults; evidence of adequate preparation for a college chaplaincy is also required.

The position is a full-time, twelve month appointment reporting to the Vice President for Student Services. The Director of the Center for Spiritual Life plays a critical role, serving as the key facilitator of spiritual and religious engagement and dialogue on campus. The Director will serve the university community as pastor, develop and implement programming to enrich the religious, spiritual and intellectual lives of students and represent the college in its relations with the local religious community. Approximately 10-15% of the director’s time will be serving as Campus Chaplain at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church.
Masters of Divinity degree or its equivalent; ordination, pastoral training and a strong theological background are required. Preference will be given to candidates with broad ecumenical and multi-faith perspectives. Candidate must be able to demonstrate significant experience working with individuals of diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. A commitment to and history of mentoring students is important with preference given to candidates who have experience working on a college campus.

Peace College is a four-year liberal arts institution for women in downtown Raleigh, NC, currently seeking to fill the position of Bennett Chaplain. This is a full-time, 10 month appointment. The Chaplain reports to the Dean of Students in the Student Development division and directs and coordinates religious life on campus. Responsibilities include coordinating weekly Chapel Services, including regular preaching; providing pastoral care to the campus community (students, faculty, and staff) as needed, referring to other counselors when appropriate; advising the Peace Student Christian Association and assisting in implementing spiritual life opportunities on campus; promoting spiritual awareness on campus through special events and in the day-to-day life of the college; overseeing budgets for the Office of the Chaplain and PSCA; teaching one to two courses in the Religion Department each semester; building relationships with area churches and other church judicatories; and participating as a member of the Student Development staff. Qualifications required include a Master of Divinity or equivalent; ordination as a minister of Word and Sacrament in the PC (USA), and pastoral and/or chaplaincy experience, with previous experience teaching religion at the college level strongly preferred.

The Protestant Campus Minister coordinates Protestant life on campus, including serving as pastor of University Church (the ecumenical Christian worshiping community on campus), collaborating and advising various campus Protestant Christian groups and supporting the spiritual and religious needs of the broader University community. The ministry of the chaplain will include conducting services, preaching, and organizing the various ministries within University Church and the Protestant Community as a whole. The Protestant Campus Minister will also work within Colgate's Office of the Chaplains, which is committed to offering leadership, personal assistance and advocacy for all of the university's religious communities. Currently the Protestant Campus Minister advises the Muslim Student Association and several other chaplaincy organizations and it is possible that the new chaplain will be expected to support multiple religious groups as well. The Protestant Campus Minister will work closely with both the Catholic and Jewish Chaplains to support religious and spiritual life on campus. The Protestant Campus Minister will report directly to the University Chaplain, a role currently held by the Catholic Chaplain. The Chaplaincy is part of the Dean of the College Division and candidates should be prepared to support the implementation of the educational vision of the college. Required: M.Div. or comparable degree, denominationally recognized ordination, and pastoral experience. Desirable: Experience in an ecumenical campus ministry setting. The ideal candidate should be energetic and enthusiastic about working with students and staff from a wide-variety of religious backgrounds, and should be comfortable supporting the faith and practice of a diverse community. She/he should have strong oral, public and written communication skills; strong counseling skills; demonstrated commitment to and skill in fostering community and collaboration among diverse constituencies; administrative skills and strategic planning experience in an ecumenical context are preferred.

Responsibilities include staff oversight, student recruitment, fund-raising and development, pastoral care for the larger Chapman community, and liaison to the local, regional and national DOC and UCC denominations. Qualifications required are a Masters of Divinity Degree and Ordination in the CC(DOC) or UCC church; broad knowledge of the principles and practices of annual giving, arts and cultural events giving, special events, and major gift fundraising experience preferably in a university setting; skill in communicating persuasively; computer skills; minimum five years experience in pastoral or specialized Disciples or UCC ministry; experience in working with church leaders and organizations; excellent organizational skills.
This is a part-time position with an expectation of about twenty hours per week fostering relationships with those already involved in the program as well as building new relationships in the interest of promoting and perpetuating the program (this includes face-to-face opportunities as well as e-mail contact). The optimal candidate for the position of Wesley Campus minister possesses:
Credentials as ordained, licensed or experienced clergy, preferred. Laity with extensive experience and/or education in counseling, Christian education, Bible study or youth work will be considered.
