LIVE WIRES II
The purpose of this booklet is to help churches and colleges or universities explore ways that they can work together in mutual ministry. The underlying assumption is that building such partnerships can enhance and enrich both the academic community and the life of the congregation.

For whom is this booklet designed?

  • Those volunteers or staff hoping to initiate projects or programs involving a church or churches in ministry on campus. This booklet will offer those seeking to initiate campus ministry with visions of the possibilities and tools to explore needs and resources.

  • Those already involved in ministry on campus who wish to strengthen ties between the college and area churches. This booklet will offer resources designed to help them evaluate their current situations and explore new visions.

  • Those leaders who may be asked to help churches develop ministries in higher education. This booklet is a resource they can share with others.

"A MORAL RESPONSE TO TERRORISM"

"A Moral Response to Terrorism" is a five-part discussion study  prepared by the editors of Sojourners Magazine. Its underlying purpose is to nurture a sense of conscience in a time of war. It is very thoughtful, concise (48pp.), and appropriate for use in small group discussion, study circles, retreats, or classrooms with university students. The five study  units are:

(1) "The Present Darkness"
(2) "Why Did This Happen?"
(3) "Paths of Love and Justice"
(4) "Is Islam the Enemy?"
(5) "A Better Way to Fight Terrorism"

Each study unit contains a variety of contributors--Christian, Jewish, and Muslim, from many life settings. Among the contributors are: Marie Dennis, Rabbi David Saperstein, Walter Wink, Bill Wylie-Kellerman, Jim Wallis, David Batstone, Muqtedar Khan, Ched Myers, Wesley Granberg-Michaelson, Joan Chittister, Charles Kimball, Shalendra Sharma, Michael Cossudovsky, Adnan Silajdzic, Nanette Asimov, Rose Marie Berger, and Naomi Klein. Each study unit includes a listing of resources--printed, audio visual, and online--for further study, worship, and action. As one would expect from Sojourners, it is high quality material.

Price: 1-9 copies, $7 each; 10-49 copies, $6 each; 50+ copies, $5 each. Plus a little shipping cost. Order at: Sojourners, 2401 15th Street NW, Washington, DC 20009; or call 1-800-714-7474. For other available study series check the Sojourners web site: www.sojo.net

OUR BODIES, CHRIST'S BODY:
SEXUALITY AND EMBODIMENT IN 1 CORINTHIANS

A Bible Study for Young Adults
By Jane Ellen Nickell

This seven-session Bible study is directed to an audience of college students and other young adults. Its purpose is to help them consider issues of sexism, sexuality, and embodiment in their own lives and how the advice Paul gave to the Corinthians on these issues is relevant to them. By considering sexuality as the ground of all relationships, students can come to a deeper love for God and for other people. Discussion questions run throughout each session, urging participants to look for answers that are relevant to their lives.
