Seeking a Position in Campus MInistry or Chaplaincy

Ministries in Higher Education Communities participate in the active and caring mission of the church with students, faculty, administrators, and all who comprise college and university communities, in witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Ministries in Higher Education Communities draw upon resources of both the church and academic communities to involve person in ministries of justice, compassion, peace, and the moral and humane uses of knowledge for the well being of the total global community and the created order.

Ministries in Higher Education Communities differ in form, style, and areas of emphases from campus to campus, responding to the multi-cultural and broadly diverse campus communities at the turn of the century.

  • Some are on large public universities or community college campuses.
  • Some are ecumenically structured; others are denominationally sponsored of congregationally based.
  • Some are campus or congregational ministries dependent on church funding; others are chaplaincies provided for by a college or university.
The models, special emphases, and styles of ministry often evolve through staff and local boards working in concerted response to needs within the campus community.
